In the second week now of my fall semester at AAU - one of my classes is "Sustained Figurative Studies". We're learning a specific rendering technique, involving a specific palette of NuPastel chalk on velvet gray toned paper. It's William Maughan's technique originally, and he's a gentleman definitely worth learning from. It's an uphill battle, but I'm starting to get a feel for this stuff.
